She chose door number 3, and it’s changed her life – and her son’s life – forever. See, Tawanda Baker could have given up hope. A Sam’s Club associate and single mother who received news that her young son had Leukemia. Times were tough, she was struggling to rent a place to live and emotions were obviously escalating. But Tawanda had a goal.
COVID-19 has created a near-perfect storm of uncertainty, and we’ve seen its impact ripple through the communities we serve. As a company committed to helping people save money and live better, we are working hard to respond to the many ways our communities need us, from ensuring access to the food and essentials people need, to expanding COVID-19 testing sites across America, to doubling down on our commitment of resources to aid those on the front lines responding to the virus.
As our company and country continue to deal with the spread of COVID-19, we remain focused on the health and safety of our associates.
Over the last several weeks, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have committed $25 million to supporting organizations on the frontlines in the fight against the novel coronavirus. It’s a position we’re proud to take.
Spring! It’s finally arrived, and I couldn’t be happier to welcome this time of year. The days are finally here where we can open the windows, plant our new garden, prep the patio, and even do a bit of organizing and spring cleaning. There is a renewed sense of energy in the air. I love this time of year.
My eyes weren’t fully open to the significance of some of my job responsibilities until I met Mr. Pitts. “We’re experiencing history in the making. These are unprecedented times. This year is one for the books.” These are all things we’ve heard, but they officially sunk in while I gave him his first COVID vaccine.
Walmart, Sam’s Club & Feeding America® Partner to Help Fight Hunger as the Need Continues as a Result of the Pandemic
Central to our mission at Walmart is helping people live better. That’s not just a statement – it’s a goal we work toward every day on behalf of our customers, members and communities. Helping people live better includes ensuring they have access to nutritious food, and for many people, that’s been a struggle this year.
