Member Update: Steps We’re Taking in Response to COVID-19

Face Coverings

On April 20, we began requiring that associates wear masks or other face coverings at work. This includes our clubs, distribution and fulfillment centers, as well as in our corporate offices. Beginning July 20, we are requiring all members to wear face coverings.

Sanitation and Social Distancing

Throughout this pandemic, your health and well-being has been our top priority. We will begin requiring associates to wear masks or other face coverings at work. We also encourage our members to wear face coverings when they shop with us. In addition we’re taking extra steps to support social distancing in the clubs by providing visual markers to support the 6’ guidance, and encouraging members to limit to no more than two people per membership enter the club at one time. To help promote social distancing guidelines, we are limiting the number of members in our clubs. Lastly, we are making shopping cart cleaning more efficient so we can provide sanitized shopping carts faster for our members.

Associate Support

We are truly grateful to our associates for the vital service they are providing to their communities. In the past several weeks, we have taken a number of measures to help them stay safe and healthy. We’ve asked any associate who feels unwell to stay home, and we’ve set a new policy to support any associate who may be affected by the virus — including paid leave for any associate who needs to self-quarantine. Other steps include taking the temperatures of our associates as they report to work, and requiring that associates wear masks or other face coverings at work.

Hours of Operation

Plus Members

  • Shop in club from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Curbside pickup is available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Club Members

  • Shop 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Curbside pickup from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Currently Concierge (drive up and in-club hours for seniors and at-risk members) will continue from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Our Hero Hours for first responders, healthcare workers and Associates are 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Sunday.


Sam’s Club Pharmacy cares about your health. If you are at high-risk for coronavirus (COVID-19) or are self-quarantined or experiencing symptoms, we offer new services to help you get the medication you need. Use our club locator to get your pharmacy’s phone number. Then, give them a call to learn which options are currently available in your area. Most Sam’s Club pharmacies are open 9am - 7pm Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm Saturday and closed on Sunday. To help us serve as many customers as possible and minimize wait times, we’d appreciate if you would call in any prescription refills at least 24 hours in advance.

Optical Centers

Many of our Optical Centers are operating from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., except for Tuesday and Thursday, when they will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The majority of our Optical Centers are providing essential services only, such as repairing glasses and helping customers pick up existing orders. We will have at least one associate available to serve the needs of our Optical members, while the other Optical associates will help support other essential areas in the rest of the club. In some cases we’re expanding our hours and services. Please contact your local club for details.

Hearing Aid Centers

Sam’s Club updated its Hearing Aid Center hours to align with the current priorities of our members. Most Hearing Aid Centers will be closed Mondays and open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays they will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays.

Limited Quantities

We continue to work around the clock to restock many of the key items we know your families need right now. Currently, we are limiting a number of items to one item per member to ensure more of our members have access to the products they need.

Curbside Pickup

Back in June, we launched Curbside Pickup at all clubs nationwide to help provide a contactless shopping experience for our members. Same-day pickup is available if the order is placed before 3 pm and is limited to 10 items or less. If your nearby Sam’s Club does not have a time slot available that you’d like, please continue to check back with us as new time slots open every morning.

Tire & Battery Centers

We have temporarily closed our Tire & Battery Centers so that these associates can help in essential areas of the club. We will honor all existing appointments for services, and special-order tires in club or on their way to the club will be installed for our members. Also, we will continue to sell tires, batteries and wiper blades on a carry out basis, with no installation. In accordance with state and local mandates, we are reopening some of our Tire & Batter Centers as appropriate. We encourage members to check their local club for availability.

Scan & Go

We encourage you to use our patented Scan & Go feature in our Sam’s Club app. Simply scan your items with your phone, add them to your cart, and skip the checkout line altogether.
