He has a kind heart. Which is why when Myles Carfagno, a shipping analyst for SamsClub.com, was surprised with $10,000 to donate to his charity of choice, he was overwhelmed at the thought of making an even bigger impact in the lives of women and children living in war-torn countries.
“I’m truly overwhelmed,” said Carfagno. It’s amazing how this small thing I did is going to totally change the lives of so many other people forever.”
Carfagno was surprised in front of his peers with the news he was one of 12 associates across the United States to receive this award as part of Walmart and Sam’s Club’s #SparkKindness challenge.
As you may remember, in June, with the help of Jennifer Garner, Walmart and Sam’s Club challenged associates to voluntarily share how they were sparking kindness in their communities and post on their social media accounts using #SparkKindness and #Walmartassociatechallenge.
Carfagno immediately jumped into action in hopes of bringing awareness to an organization he has been passionate about since his college internship with ForgottenSong. The nonprofit helps women and children who live in a war-torn countries become self-sustainable through reproducible small businesses, like raising goats and selling goats. Carfagno recently visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo to see first-hand how this organization is changing lives.
“After seeing the impact this organization is already having in entire villages, it’s inspiring to know how many more thousands of people will be helped though this donation,” he said.
So, it wasn’t your typical day in the office for Carfagno, but it was one that he and many others will remember for a lifetime all because of kindness.
Just listen to the reaction from the Director of ForgottenSong when Carfagno shared the news.
