Becky Schmitt is the Senior Vice President and Chief People Lead of Sam’s Club US Business. She is accountable for the success of about 100,000 associates through innovative job design, investment in digital acumen and leadership development at all levels. As the culture champion for the business Becky works to position an environment that enables agility in the workforce to disrupt retail.
Becky has 24 years of experience in developing talent by crafting solutions to unlock potential and impact business results. She joined Walmart in 2016 as Vice President of HR for technology and was later promoted Senior Vice President and Chief People Lead of US eCommerce and Corporate Functions before her current CPO role at Sam’s Club. Becky has been a key part in developing the people modernization strategy at Walmart and creating HR strategy for the growth of the technology workforce across acquisition, compensation and career development. Before joining Walmart, Becky served as Accenture’s North America HR Service Delivery Lead, where she was responsible for all stages of the employee lifecycle for 47,000 employees in over 58 locations. During her time at Accenture, Becky’s played key roles in the development of technology talent through leadership in the India Delivery centers while based in Bangalore, globalizing the SAP practice, building out the global technology architecture capability and managing the Asia Pacific Communications and High-Tech business. Earlier in her career, Becky held HR generalist roles in Detroit spanning from local campus recruiting and to global responsibility for leadership development and diversity programs.
Becky received her BA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She currently serves as a Board Member at Large for the Girls Scouts of America with a position on the Audit and Compensation Committee.
