Christopher Shryock named Sam’s Club Chief People Officer

We are pleased to announce our new Chief People Officer for Sam’s Club, Christopher Shryock. In this role, he will oversee all aspects of the people business for Sam’s Club, field and Home Office, including partnering on organizational design, talent management and continuing to build a diverse and inclusive workplace for our approximately 90,000 associates across the U.S. Christopher will directly lead the Sam’s Club People team and provide leadership to the new Sam’s Club People Specialist roles focused on talent, associate learning and leadership, rewards and workforce planning. Christopher becomes a key member of the Sam’s Club Leadership Council and the Global People Leadership team and will be a dual report to both of us.

Christopher will relieve Jane Ewing of her “second job” as our interim Sam’s Club People leader, and she will now fully transition to her role as Senior Vice President of Sustainability. Thank you for your leadership, Jane, during this critical period.

We’re excited to add Christopher’s diverse set of experiences and deep expertise as a People leader, building talent pipelines, integrating advanced analytics into workforce planning, driving business transformation and developing future leaders.

Christopher joins the organization from PepsiCo, where he most recently led Human Resources across all Commercial functions for PepsiCo Foods North America based in Plano, Texas. In his nearly 14 years with the company, he held various global people leadership roles in Geneva, Switzerland; Moscow, Russia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and New York. He has broad experience working with frontline, field-focused employees to senior executives. He earned a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Hofstra University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Xavier University. He also speaks Spanish.

Christopher and his family will be relocating to Bentonville from Plano, Texas in the coming weeks. He and his wife, Shannon, have an almost two-year-old. While Christopher has never lived in Arkansas, his parents both attended the University of Arkansas and many of his extended family live in the area. He’s an avid runner, and he looks forward to hitting the trails.
