Members ask for him by name. And especially during the holidays, he’s ready to deliver. After all, the Santa man can.
The Santa man is none other than Eric Burns, an associate at Club 8135 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He has been with Sam’s Club for eight years and previously worked for Walmart. For the past five years, Eric has dressed up as Santa Claus during his shift to bring joy to the members at his club, especially the children.
“He bends over backwards to help our members, and many ask for him by name for assistance,” said Jim Behnke, Club Manager, acknowledging he dresses as Santa Claus between Thanksgiving and Christmas, weather permitting. “Eric has been the Santa at a local community center for years and wanted to do it here. He loves to interact with the kids and make them happy.”
As an Eagle Scout, Eric knows a thing or two about helping people. Even though he has a full schedule, he volunteers countless hours at his local community center and food bank where he grew up.
But it’s all in a day’s work for Eric. And he does it all, for a simple smile.
When asked what it’s like to make people smile, Eric said, “It’s the best thing ever.”
