Our commitment to our Veterans is nothing new. In fact, it began a long time ago, with our very first veteran: Sam Walton. He served in the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps and brought with him the values that define us to this day. It’s that same set of values that make us so grateful for our nation’s veterans, and to those who call Sam’s Club home.
Veterans serve Sam’s Club and other areas of Walmart every day, and we could not be more proud to work together with them. We asked our Sam’s Club associates to nominate Veterans from their facilities to be honored on Veterans Day. Here’s what their peers had to say about a few of those nominees.
Leroy Martin – Club 6670

"Leroy has worked with Sam's Club for over 32 years. Leroy was in the Army, 1st Calvary Unit E4. Leroy was stationed in the mountains in Vietnam where he served two years in 1966 and 1967. His bravery, sacrifice and strength do not go unnoticed, and we couldn't thank him enough for his sacrifice and for his service for our country. It's our club’s greatest honor of having him."
Jeffrey Lee Clayton, Club 4871

"Jeffrey is a positive and outgoing associate that coaches for youth league bowling at our local bowling alley. He also rides with CVMA the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association where the motto is 'Vets Helping Vets'."

"David served his country for 26 years. He demonstrates honor, courage, and commitment. He has also given Sam’s Club 25 years of service and serves us and our members with that same passion, honor, and commitment."
Our Veterans are a special part of our family, and we want to thank them and their families on Veterans Day, but also for their tremendous service throughout the year. And that’s just what Cindi Grunert, a Sam’s Club associate in Wisconsin has done.
While Cindi hasn’t served personally, she makes it her mission to serve those who have through Quilts of Valor, stitching and awarding them quilts. She has stitched over 50 quilts, and does so with thanks for those who have sacrificed.
"As I’m stitching, I’m remembering the sacrifices that the men and women have done for us to keep our freedoms," she said of her dedication to the community.
